The Residence Hall Association, or RHA, aims to improve the residential experience for on-campus students through community programming and feedback-based advocacy initiatives while fostering the personal growth and leadership development of its members. The three overarching goals are programming, advocacy, and leadership development. It is made up of 36 residence hall governments, 4 Residential Councils and 1 Executive Board. We make up the voice of 16,000+ on-campus students as a result. With these numbers, we are the largest student-run organization at Rutgers and, believe it or not, in the USA.

If you’re interested in joining and getting involved, elections are held in the fall when school starts. You can become a Residential Council Director to plan campus-wide programs and advocate for sustainability, acceptance, safety, and other student and campus needs. Or you can run for election on the hall-government level as a Hall President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Public Relations Chair, Advocacy Liaison and Event Coordinator. If you aren’t interested in making a large commitment there are General Member and other flexible positions are always available throughout the year, Fall and Spring semesters.

Residence Hall events will begin with the start of school, but campus-wide events will begin later in September. Announcements for RHA events typically start a week or two before they are held. Watch out around campus and around your hall for more information!
